BHSN DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS
alt_text
Being at school every day is an important part of your student’s success. If your student needs to be out, please call the attendance line at (812) 349-4704. A quick call helps us excuse absences when appropriate and keeps everyone on the same page. Indiana’s new law requires a meeting after 5 unexcused absences and a letter to the prosecutor after 10, so your call makes a big difference.

The African-American Read-In will be at IU on Friday, February 6. Join us for the annual celebration of Black music and poetry. Anyone interested in attending should pick up a permission slip from the main office or in Mrs. Sweeney's room, 609. Permission slips are due January 31.
See attached file for info on the African American Read-In 2026

Do you know high school students interested in exploring African Diaspora dance forms? Students who are undecided about college or looking to visit IU Bloomington's campus? Students who need a community and a 'safer' space for their future academic endeavors?
Previously known as the African American Dance Company (AADC) Annual Dance Workshop, the legendary AADC is excited to host KUKUSANYA, its 28th anniversary dance intensive on Feb. 27-28, 2025 on IU Bloomington's campus. KUKUSANYA: International Africanist Dance Intensive exposes participants to dance from the perspectives of African American culture and the broader African Diaspora through master classes, a panel discussion, and showcase. Directed by Baba Stafford C. Berry Jr., the intensive features a faculty of esteemed dance artists, percussionists, educators, performers, and scholars.
We are pleased to offer scholarships to eligible high school students once again this year. We hope your students will apply! Applications are due Jan. 19th, before midnight. Notifications will be sent by Feb. 3rd in order to allow time for travel preparations.
The application can be found here: http://go.iu.edu/kukusanya-scholarship. Please let us know if you have any questions at all.
