SENIOR APPLICATION PREP SHEET 

(For Seniors Planning on Attending a 4-Year College)

 

  1.  Do a search of possible colleges and universities online (go to their websites) that support your interests and possible major/minor areas of study.

 

  1. Narrow your colleges of interest to “reach” schools (those that may be fairly difficult to get into) and “safe” schools (those for which you are likely to get acceptance). 

 

  1. Set up “college visits” (seniors get two excused absences) and also take any “virtual tours” available on most college/university websites! LINK: Bloomington High School North - College Visits (mccsc.edu)

 

  1. Apply to your colleges/universities of choice by creating an account via Common Apps (or in some cases directly through those specific college/university websites). Apply to college with Common App | Your future starts here

 

  1. Once you create your Common Application, be sure to “select” your counselor (all North counselors are listed) … counselors will send your transcripts and other information to colleges through Common Apps.

 

  1. You MUST click on the “waiver” for FERPA in Common Apps BY CLICKING ON EACH COLLEGE TO WHICH YOU ARE APPLYING for us to be able to process your records. If you do not sign the waiver, counselors cannot send your info to colleges.

 

  1. If you are applying to colleges/universities that still require SAT or ACT scores, please send those directly to the colleges/universities to which you applied via CollegeBoard or ACT.org (for a small fee).  SENDING SAT SCORES TO COLLEGES  or SENDING ACT SCORES TO COLLEGES

 

  1. For seniors who are planning on playing college sports, be sure to finalize you NCAA Clearinghouse credentials online at NCAA CLEARINGHOUSE LINK

 

  1. 21st Century Scholars must complete ALL steps (online) to maintain their scholarship applicability. SCHOLAR TRACK
