Dear Families, Students, and Staff,

Wow! Summer went by so fast, and here we are on the verge of another fantastic school year. I hope you've all had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to the great year ahead!

As we prepare for the new school year, it's important to remember that being present at school is absolutely key to your student’s success. The State of Indiana has introduced new rules regarding attendance emphasizing its importance. The best way to meet these requirements is to ensure students are at school. If your child is sick, please call the attendance line at 812-349-4704. If you need them released early for an appointment please give us at least one hour notice using this same number.  Additionally, please reach out to your student’s assistant principal or school counselor so we can support your student’s attendance.

The assistant principals will be following up with letters to introduce themselves to their respective classes.

In line with the idea of being fully present at school, students are not permitted to use cellphones in class unless specifically given permission by a teacher for instructional reasons. This is also part of the new legislation passed by the State of Indiana. We hope students will come to school with this understanding and trust that they will adhere to this policy. The times they can use their phone is before school, after school, and during lunch.

This year, you will notice that lockers have not been assigned to students. If your student would like to request a locker, please fill out the form in the provided link. Over the years, we have observed that many students do not use their lockers, but we are happy to assign one upon request. https://forms.gle/5vxkqb3VPgVYKwfE6

For our student drivers, please register your vehicle to receive a parking pass. There is no charge for the passes this year, but we need all vehicles registered for safety reasons. If this presents a problem, please let us know. We will be checking the parking lots to ensure all vehicles are registered.https://forms.gle/13c3NffxKXFRxH5n8

If you have a freshman and have not yet signed up for Cougar Encounter this Friday, there is still time! I hope you take advantage of this opportunity. Cougar Encounter is on August 2, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 2 PM, with a parent meeting in the library at 10:00 AM.
