Students, Staff, and Families,
I hope this has been a good year and I am also hopeful that you will finish strong in these last days before summer break. Also, if you haven't yet done so please reach out and thank aa teacher during this Teacher Appreciation week and don't forget that Sunday is Mother's Day.
This year has had a lot of success on all fronts. Academically, we continue to see a rise in the number of students taking classes for dual credit both here at BHSN and our students attending Hoosier Hills. As I sign the certificates for our Honor Roll, I am impressed by the number of students who have made their academic success a focus. In the arts, we continue to see outstanding achievement from individuals and by groups. Seeing Bloomington High School North in state level competition on a continual basis is a point of pride. In athletics, we have seen outstanding individual performances and team performances. The football team had their first undefeated season in school history and a number of school records have been broken across many of our sports. We wish all those still participating all the best in the weeks ahead. Our clubs have also continued to expand and look for ways to help others. Fundraisers for Habitat, Project Middle Way, Riley Hospital, the Food Bank, and many other important causes have highlighted our students' generosity and need to make the world a little better for others. Our Student Equity Team held their first conference with the focus on creating an environment that supports and affirms all students. Our staff just finished a professional development day where we are reviewing our curriculum and working to apply the future focus standards from the state and reviewing how we improve our instruction to meet the needs of our students. A group of teachers volunteered and were trained on studying student engagement and we are looking at how we improve our connections with students.
This is just a small sample of an incredible year of success while also working to improve and rise to meet our potential. We are so appreciative of the support of our community and our families and Cougars for Better Education that celebrate and financially support our teachers and programs. Thank you for the support you give and for the emails you send that support and celebrate our students and staff.
As this year starts to come to a close, please go to the school website and look at the final exam schedule. Spend a little extra time preparing and finish the year strong. Congratulations to our graduating class and all the best on your next steps. For those students returning next year that want a jump start to the year, please ask about our summer program to give you that little extra boost to get ready for another great year.
I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve our school and I look forward to the 24-25 school year with great hope and anticipation.
